I've always wondered...

Were the snorks used on say Lumpy Gravy or WOIIFTM the same snorks on
Uncle Meat or even CivPhaseIII? Did he actually take them all from a
'Knick Knack' session or are they taken from one main snork? Those
moments have always made for a good chuckle amidst the seriousness.
Poot-Fart-Clap!

Thanks,
YW

Since CivIII uses Lumpy Gravy-era dialogue (as does one bit on SUAPYG),
I think it's a safe guess that some 60's snorks are there too.

When I saw Bozzio's drum clinic last year I was tempted to ask him if
he remembered when all of that dialogue with him, O'Hearn and Moire was
recorded ("Whatever Happened To All The Fun In The World," etc.), but I
thought better of it.

Were there early "snorkings" recorded at Studio Z aswell? Ludens cough
drops? Or that was later? Am I thinking that the Knick Knack sessions
were the snork tapes, just edited & sampled later?...

My understanding is that some of what people call "Knick Knack" is the
stuff from the studio session in the Baby Snakes film with FZ
conducting Terry Bozzio, Ed Mann and Tommy Mars, so that would be
later, of course.

Oh yeah what was I thinking? (duhh) I meant the earliest snorks...I was
wondering if he had just a master snork recording for the early lps.

Thanks pbuzby!

The Bozzio/Mann/Mars session is combined with a sped-up tape of the
1960s MOI.

That 1960s tape includes snorks, as well as Roy laughing and the 5/8
riff.

There's a hilarious snork sound on Man from Utopia. Was it on Moggio?
It's awsome....
I must check it out again.

I don't know exactly how I would describe that vocal mostrosity right
before "Moggio", but whenever I let out a huge burp of some sort, I will
often start humming/singing the opening lines of "Moggio", almost as if
there is nothing more appropriate to follow that sound.

I don't know if it's considered a snork per se, but I love the "noise"
right after Hello teenage Amerika, my name is Suzy Creamcheese...
on Uncle Meat.

....of course I meant the liquid bubbling solo snorks that start around 8
mins into King Kong on MAHNH. That's what happens to a person after a
year of Zappa-deprivation.

Well, it kinda seemed like he didn't have a great memory for that old
trivial stuff, and that he was hoping to keep the q&a in more of a
"general interest" domain...
