Hotel California - Eagles
I've never cared for the Eagles and own none of their albums, but the DVD of the
"Hell Freezes Over" tour is pretty danged good. This song is the opener, with
five guys playing accoustic guitars - awesome!
Post by JYOB
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
What? This is the butt-dance-in-yer-car-while-singing-at-the-top-of-yer-lungs
classic! See how many parts you can identify and sing.

Rocky Mountain Way - Joe Walsh
I love Joe Walsh, esp. "Life's Been Good" and "Ordinary Average Guy." Plus, he
reminds me of Abbie Hoffman with a guitar for some reason.
Post by JYOB
Feel Like Makin' Love - Bad Company
Agreed. A next-door neighbor at the dorm in college once played this at high
volume about 100 times in a row, while doing air guitar in the hallway. I think
he was horny, or just got laid for the first time, or something.

Still a fine song.

What else would drunken idots yell at cover bands? And who is Leonyd Skinner -

I've developed a soft spot in my heart for Aerosmith. I once saw them as the
headlining act after Kansas and Ted Nugent - Nugent stole the show IMHO, but
nowadays I can't stand the mutherfucker.

The old geezer
"Enter Sandman" by Metallica. This song has become the new "Stairway To
Heaven" in music stores (i.e., "Wayne's World," when Myers tries out that
vintage Strat and plays "Stairway"... the music store employee stops him and
points to a sign which reads "No 'Stairway To Heaven'").

On a recent visit to a local Daddy's Junky Music store, no fewer than three
different kids came in to try guitars, and at some point, they all ended up
playing "Enter Sandman."

I turned off music radio in 1975/6. Started listening to David Berg.
(Older Denverites may get this reference.)
Turned off the TV in 1988.
So I haven't been oversaturated with the tunes above.

I still have a fondness for Brown Eyed Girl, Rocky Mnt Way and Dream On.

Where's Stairway to Heaven on your list?
How about anything by Boston?

I'll admit that Passion Play is superior to Thick As A Brick as long as you're
also ready for me to admit that, while I once owned all the Jethro Tull albums,
I now own none and miss them not a whit. This Was and Benefit are the only ones
worth the effort.

The problem with Passion Play is, how many times to you want to hear the tale of
the hare who lost his spectacles?

IMHO, Aqualung remains the most consistent and repeated-listening-worthy of all
JT albums. It's enlightening to play it to folks of the Xtian persuasion, and
argue about the Gospel printed on the back.

If you're absolutely sick of the same AM/FM "classic" crap rock, I would
strongly suggest you look into XM Satellite radio.

I stopped listening to those stations about 15 years ago after the 20th
playing of "Foxy Lady" within a week. I moved to NPR, Jazz, and local
college stations just to get a break from commercials and repetitive
playlists.

I bought the system for the Jazz stations about a year and a half ago, but I
have since re-discovered outstanding rock that I haven't heard in 25-35
years. One station is Deep Tracks (Ch. 40) which plays the other songs from
the albums that the radio tripe comes from. And the other is XM Music Lab
(Ch. 51) which plays what is commonly called "progressive rock" (Yes, ELP,
and ZAPPA). Both stations play the occasional Zappa song.

Check out www.xm411.com to see what is playing and also what has been
played.

It's $10 a month, but I'd get rid of my cable TV before my XM radio.
